Join Velocity Trading Group's Research team in San Francisco and help shape market strategy through rigorous data analysis and trading insights. You'll work alongside experienced researchers to identify patterns, evaluate opportunities, and support decision-making across our trading operations. In this mid-level role, you'll own research projects from conception to delivery, combining quantitative analysis with market knowledge to uncover actionable intelligence. Responsibilities

• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trading opportunities
• Develop and maintain datasets; perform statistical analysis on market trends and performance metrics
• Build research reports and visualizations that communicate findings clearly to traders and leadership
• Evaluate trading strategies using historical data; stress-test models and assumptions
• Collaborate with traders and other researchers to refine hypotheses and validate insights
• Document methodologies and maintain research documentation for team reference

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in research, trading, finance, or related analytical field
• Demonstrated ability to think critically about market dynamics and trading mechanics
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with financial markets, trading platforms, or quantitative methods a plus
• Self-directed mindset with ability to manage multiple research projects concurrently
• Strong proficiency with data analysis tools (SQL, Python, Excel, or similar)
