Senior Risk Manager

About this role

Velocity Trading Group seeks a Senior Risk Manager to oversee portfolio risk and market exposure across our trading operations. You will own real-time monitoring, analysis, and mitigation of market, credit, and operational risks. In this role, you'll partner with traders, portfolio managers, and technology teams to maintain risk limits, identify emerging exposures, and enhance our risk framework. Your decisions directly shape how we manage capital and navigate volatile markets.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze portfolio risk metrics, market exposures, and limit breaches in real time
• Develop and refine risk models, stress tests, and scenario analyses to identify tail risks
• Collaborate with traders and portfolio managers to establish and enforce risk limits
• Prepare daily and periodic risk reports for senior leadership and stakeholders
• Lead incident response and post-trade risk assessments
• Champion process improvements and risk system enhancements

Qualifications

• 7+ years of risk management experience in trading, hedge funds, or financial institutions
• Advanced Excel and SQL skills; experience with Python or similar languages preferred
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders
• Expertise in VaR, Greeks, stress testing, and liquidity risk frameworks
• Sound understanding of derivatives, fixed income, equities, or multi-asset trading
• Strong proficiency in risk analytics, market data, and portfolio analysis tools
