Backend Engineer, Healthcare APIs

Horizon Health Solutions is building scalable healthcare systems that power modern patient care. We're looking for a mid-level Backend Engineer to design and maintain robust APIs that serve our growing platform. You'll work with a talented software engineering team to architect cloud-native solutions using Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS. Your focus will be on reliability, performance, and security—critical in healthcare contexts.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable REST and GraphQL APIs serving healthcare applications
• Develop backend services using Node.js and PostgreSQL with a focus on data integrity
• Deploy and manage containerized applications on AWS using Docker and Kubernetes
• Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to define API specifications
• Write tests and documentation; participate in code reviews
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize system performance

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience
• Experience designing and documenting APIs at scale
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes preferred)
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Solid understanding of SQL databases and data modeling
• Strong proficiency in Node.js or similar server-side runtime
