Mid-Level Software Developer, Backend Systems

About this role

Urban Retail Ventures is looking for a Mid-Level Software Developer to design and build scalable backend systems and APIs that power modern retail platforms. You'll work with a talented software development team to solve real customer problems through clean, maintainable code. In this role, you'll own features end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to deployment and monitoring. You'll collaborate with teammates, participate in code reviews, and continuously improve our platform as we scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable APIs and backend services for retail platforms
• Write clean, testable code and participate in peer code reviews
• Collaborate with teammates to define system requirements and architecture
• Monitor and optimize application performance and reliability
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement improvements
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience
• Comfortable with SQL and relational databases
• Demonstrated experience building and scaling APIs or distributed systems
• Experience with version control, testing frameworks, and CI/CD practices
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly
• Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, Go, Node.js, etc.)
